Create a Member Metric
Member Metrics serve as the "currency" for your loyalty membership program. The platform supports several Metric Types, which are designed to support a variety of marketing use cases and loyalty program strategies.
To create a new Member Metric:

Select Program from the top navigation bar, then select Member Metrics from the side navigation menu. The Member Metrics screen is displayed.

In the Name field, enter a name for the new Metric.

From the drop-down menu, select a Metric Type:

Point: The most common Metric Type, used for earnings and redemptions.

Activity: Tracks actionable items, such as visits or engagement.

Duration: Measures how long a Member engages with your app.

Distance: Tracks distance traveled or proximity to a location.

Spend: Tracks the amount spent by the Member.

Click Create. The Edit Metric pop-up window is displayed.

The Display Name field is populated with the value you entered above; optionally edit this value.

The Internal Name is automatically populated based on the Display Name value. This field is not editable by default. To edit the Internal Name, check Edit Internal Name. A confirmation dialog box is displayed; click Ok. Edit the Internal Name value.

Optionally, in the Description field, enter a description of this item.

The Type drop-down menu is populated with the Metric Type you selected above. Optionally, select a different Metric Type.

The Duration, Distance, and Spend Metric Types allow you to specify the number of decimals places to use when calculating and tracking Metric accumulation. From the Decimal Places drop-down menu, select 0, 1, or 2.

The Code value is required by the back-end server that processes Metrics. The platform automatically generates a Code value based on the Display Name. You can optionally edit this code by providing a unique two-character alphanumeric value. Once you save the Metric, the Code value can no longer be edited.

Optionally, to allow a Member's Metrics to expire, check Expirable. For more information on Metric expiration, please see the Point Expiration User Guide.

Optionally, to allow Members in a household to pool together their individual Metric balances, check Pooled.

Click Save.
After you create the Metric, you must deploy metadata, which pushes the changes out to the Loyalty server, and makes the new Metric available for use. For details on how to deploy metadata, please see the Deployments screen.
